Ames Flashback: San Manuel Mine Closure

Sixty-Two: Ames News — delivered.

Twenty years ago, Ames crews were working to close the San Manuel Mine in Arizona. Reclamation of the 50-year-old mine and plant sites was the largest project of its kind ever undertaken in Arizona.

Crews were challenged by rough terrain and numerous open shafts. Through ingenuity and massive earthwork activities, Ames crews met the significant challenge of improving aesthetics while achieving the correct slope.

🎉The project was honored with a 2006 AGC Build Arizona Award.
