Joined Ames: June 1989
Position: Operator
Dan Gleason joined Ames through a family connection 36 years ago. Today, the family ties extend to his sons, Brandon and Cory, and Brandon’s wife, Callie, who all work for Ames. Dan spent most of his career in the Midwest, but he joined Brandon and Callie in relocating to North Carolina for the GRMS project in 2022.
“We were supposed to be here for eight months, but that changed!” Dan says.
Dan has enjoyed being able to see what he has accomplished at the end of each day, especially on projects like the I-35E/I-94 job in the early 1990s and U.S. Bank Stadium. (Dan’s dad and brother worked on the previous Metrodome stadium.)
“The company has really grown, which has been fun to watch. When I started, there was one crane in the Midwest, and now there are more cranes than backhoes. I never thought I’d see that.”
Retiring in late June, Dan says he’ll miss the camaraderie but not getting up so early in the morning. He’s looking forward to traveling and fishing.
