Ames crews in Northern Nevada are mining, hauling, and screening spent tailings at the Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) Leeville 4-2 Tailings Facility. The screened material will be used by NGM as a component of their backfill mixture for underground mining operations.

The first Ames crews began this mining and screening project in 2017. Ames was awarded contracts to continue this work in 2018 and 2021–2024. Most recently Ames was awarded another three years of work for 2025–2027.
Ames mining crews have worked diligently to develop benches and haul roads that maximize efficiency, promote safety, and supply the screening plant with an adequate volume of material for production, all while strategically mining material suitable for immediate screening. Mining efforts are accomplished with the use of CAT 745 haul trucks, a CAT 349 excavator, and support equipment.
Ames screening crews have expertly operated the screening plant each year. Using a CAT 980/982 loader and support equipment, they have managed to complete the contract quantities ahead of schedule every year.
