In his 17 years with Ames, Kevin Hogan has enjoyed a career that has taken him places—starting in Kansas and ending in North Carolina. His connection to Ames, however, stretches back decades, from his time working for Kraemer North America.
“Kraemer and Ames were like brother-sister back in the ’80s. So I’ve been around Ames my whole career.”
His first job as an Ames employee was a grade separation project in Olathe, Kansas, with the Mountain region. From there, he joined the Midwest region for the Burlington Swing Bridge replacement in Iowa—a memorable job for all its challenges. The Sandpoint Junction Connector project in Sandpoint, Idaho, was the “marquee project” of his career, he says. “The job was good and the scenery was good. Everybody worked great together.”
No matter where he was sent, Ames always took care of him. “I didn't have to worry about a roof over my head or three squares in my gut. They treated me very good.”
Kevin’s plan for retirement is to “do a whole lot of nothing” while letting his body recoup. His parting words to his coworkers are to keep building America.
“It's been a magnificent career working with everyone at Ames, and I've enjoyed it tremendously.”
