Ames, project owners, and communities celebrated completions and milestones of several projects in late 2023.
56th Avenue Widening Project
The 56th Avenue Widening Project in Denver, Colorado, has crossed the finish line, and Ames Construction celebrated by sponsoring a 5K fun run and ribbon cutting ceremony at the project site. The project made several improvements that will help people travel more safely, whether they’re in a car, on a bike, on foot, or taking transit.
Bielenberg Helmo Bridge
Minnesota state and local officials celebrated the opening of the Bielenberg Helmo Bridge at a chilly ribbon-cutting ceremony in late November. The new bridge spans I-94, connecting the Twin Cities east metro suburbs of Oakdale and Woodbury. It is a part of the Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, which includes the construction of dedicated bus lanes from St. Paul to Woodbury, new bus stations, bridges, utilities, and ponds along the route. Gold Line construction continues through 2025.
Third Avenue Bridge
Minneapolis is enjoying a newly restored Third Avenue Bridge, following a ribbon-cutting celebration in late October that included food, music, and tours. Spanning the Mississippi River, the Melan arch bridge was closed to traffic in January 2021 for deck and column removal, followed by the rebuilding of the bridge and rehabilitation of the concrete arch spans and footings.
