Meet Luke Dippel and Courtney Roen, Ames’ first-ever Environmental Specialists for the Eastern and Central offices.

What are your job responsibilities?
I assist the Eastern office projects with environmental permitting and compliance.
What is your education?
Bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in environmental science.
What do you like about your job?
I like the constant challenges and problems that need solving. I also enjoy that I get to use my degree in a way that I feel is helping protect the environment.
What would you like to share about your life outside of work?
I have just relocated from Utah to North Carolina. Outside of work I like to snowboard, play golf, mountain bike, and just generally spend time outside.

What are your job responsibilities?
My primary responsibility is to maintain environmental compliance at our jobsites. I conduct stormwater and erosion control inspections at some of the local jobs, in addition to providing support for sites across the region.
What is your education?
MS is soil, water, and ecosystem sciences from the University of Florida. Before joining Ames, I worked with hazardous waste at an environmental consultancy, and in R&D for a food manufacturing startup.
What do you like about your job?
I like working in the dirt and helping the jobs address environmental challenges. I also enjoy learning new things about the construction industry every time I visit a site.
What would you like to share about your life outside of work?
After spending a few years living in Florida, I enjoy being back in a state with four seasons. Outside of work, I enjoy biking, hiking, camping, reading, and baking.
