Joined Ames: May 2024
Position: Field Engineer, Western Office (Nevada)
James Huckaby’s path to Ames started with the AGC Club at Montana Technological University. James was a part of the club’s team that finished first in a Region 7 ASC (Associated Schools of Construction) Student Competition.
“It was during that competition that I realized I really enjoyed the heavy civil industry,” he says. “My AGC Club advisor mentioned that Ames was hiring and put me in contact with Kylie Tokunaga (Reno Area Project Manager). After our conversations, Ames seemed like a great place to work and a good fit for me. I was honored to accept a position here.”
James graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in May and started working at Ames two weeks later. He says he is taking advantage of every opportunity to experience work in the field.
“I really enjoy the people and environment. I am looking forward to learning more about Ames, the construction industry, and being an asset to the company.”
In his free time, James loves to spend time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his family, friends, and dogs.
