Joined Ames: 2005
Position: Cost Engineer, Western Region–Nevada
Mike Brown was working for a major aerospace company when he decided he needed a change. When he had the opportunity to join Ames on the Provo Canyon project in Utah, he happily traded a sterile office for a scenic location—and never regretted the decision.
“I appreciate working for a privately held company like Ames verses a large public corporation,” he says. “With Ames, I feel appreciated instead of being just a number."
A cost engineer by title, Mike has been working most recently as a project controls manager on several large design-build projects in Nevada. He handles client billings and cost controls, and he ensures that the contract is followed.
“I like the challenges that each new project brings and the satisfaction of actually being a part of the amazing projects that Ames builds. I have been traveling a lot for Ames the past several years. This can be challenging, but I like to make the best of it by exploring the areas I travel to and meeting new people.”
When Mike is not at work, he likes to ski, golf, and hike; spend time with his two sons and other family members; and travel to places he’s never seen before.
