Newly Awarded Project: I-40 Pigeon River Gorge Emergency Repairs

Sixty-Two: Ames News — delivered.

Ames ranked first in the selection process for I-40 Pigeon River Emergency Work for the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Estimated at $500 million, the project will repair large sections of I-40 in western North Carolina that were damaged during Hurricane Helene. The project will include highway reconstruction due to slope failures that occurred along the Pigeon River, corridor improvements, geotechnical work that may include river work and rock/slope stabilization, maintenance of traffic in a high-volume area, and utility relocation and coordination, with expedited construction delivery of no more than two years.

This emergency procurement came together in two parts: a Letter of Interest, quickly followed by a Statement of Qualifications. The proposal team consisted of Ames personnel across many offices, including Minnesota, North Carolina, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado.

Congratulations to the team for pulling the proposal together in such a tight timeline. Your hard work paid off!
