Newly Awarded Project: Snake River Bridge

Sixty-Two: Ames News — delivered.

Ames was recently awarded a Wyoming DOT project to remove and replace the Snake River Bridge on WYO 22 and WYO 390, five miles west of the popular tourist destination of Jackson. The bridge was built in 1960 and is now deemed structurally deficient. It sits at a key juncture connecting Jackson to the nearby town of Wilson, Teton Village (home of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort), and Grand Teton National Park.

The replacement of the Snake River Bridge in Wyoming will happen in two phases in order to maintain two lanes of traffic through the duration of the project.

The new 980-foot-long bridge will be built in two phases to maintain two lanes of traffic through the duration of the 2.5-year project. A key feature will be the construction of three wildlife crossings—a structural steel highway bridge and two precast concrete box culverts—in an effort to reduce collisions between motorists and animals, particularly moose.

The project will also include reconstruction of a major intersection, a pedestrian underpass, and wetlands construction. Work is set to start in early 2023.
