Joined Ames: 1991
Position: Chief Operating Officer

Butch Trebesch was an integral part of Ames’ growth and success for 33 years, joining the company as an estimator in 1991. As a registered professional engineer, Butch estimated and helped secure many projects at Ames, rising to the position of Midwest Region Vice President. In 2018, Butch accepted the role of Chief Operating Officer, a title he held until recently in anticipation of his retirement.

He was a key contributor to some of Ames’ largest and most complex projects for the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), including the TH 212 Design-Build project, the TH 14 Design-Build project, and I-35W HOV lane construction.

Butch graduated from South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation as a project engineer before joining Ames. When he was hired, he was one of three estimators/project managers in the Midwest Region. In his 30th anniversary year, there were more than 400 company-wide. “The opportunities are unending, and it’s fulfilling to be a part of what the owners are continuing to build,” he wrote in the Ames Angle.
