Joined Ames: 2010
Position: Truck Driver

Danny Torman was interested in working at the Kennecott mine in Utah and heard that the best way to get a job there was to go through a company called Ames. He had also seen Ames’ signage when driving by the Legacy Parkway project while working in Salt Lake City for another company. He put in an application, and Regional HR Manager Andy Anderson called him up to let him know that Ames was looking for drivers.

“My one question for him was if Ames was going to be able to have work for me all year round,” Danny says. “He kind of chuckled and said, ‘I think we can handle that.’”

More than a decade later, Danny has worked on multiple mine projects, the I-15 Corridor Expansion (I-CORE), Murdock Canal, Pinto Creek Bridge, Hell Canyon Bridge, and SR 189 Nogales, among other projects. He also relocated from Utah to Arizona.

“Every project is memorable and I couldn’t pick one that was better than the others.”

Danny’s plans for retirement are “no plans.” He and his wife, Debbie, purchased a new home a few years ago, so he has some projects to do and he hopes to travel a bit. “I’ve enjoyed this run, and I enjoyed my company. I have no regrets.”
