Joined Ames: 1990
Position: Superintendent, Rocky Mountain

Richard “Richie” Marquez joined Ames in 1990 as a concrete foreman and transitioned into a superintendent role a few years later during projects at the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mine in Colorado.

Over the course of more than three decades with Ames, Richie and his wife, Carmen, traveled to projects all over the country, from Georgia and Texas to North Dakota and Wyoming. In addition to Cripple Creek, some of his most memorable projects included the Climax Mine and the Rueter-Hess Reservoir because of the large amounts of concrete poured for various structures and large pipe encasements.

“I enjoyed working with everybody in the Ames family. They treated my wife and me as family, and we appreciated that."

Richie’s retirement plans include “kicking back” for a little while, traveling with Carmen, fishing, and golfing.
