Joined Ames: 1996
Position: President, Southwest Office
Jerry Miller, President of the Southwest Office, retired on Jan. 31.
Jerry will forever be part of the Ames Construction family. He led with a people-first focus and left us all a legacy of servant leadership. Jerry’s special ability to build connections with our people, clients, and communities will be missed throughout our organization. The entire company has benefitted from Jerry’s leadership, passion, and willingness to always be a friend and mentor.
Jerry joined Ames in 1996 as a project engineer in the Western Office in Utah. In 1998, he accepted a transfer to the Southwest Office in Arizona. To this day, the Sky Harbor Airport North Runway Replacement project in Phoenix in 2000-2001 is a favorite for him because it was the first project for which he was the project manager.
In 2012, Jerry took on the responsibility of launching the Pacific office in California, which has grown into a preeminent contractor in all of Southern California. In 2014, he accepted the position of Senior Vice President for the Southwest Office, helping to further develop Ames’ business with a focus on transportation, rail, mining, and water. Collectively, Jerry built leaders and businesses that are positioned to flourish far into the future. He’s especially proud of the growth in Arizona mining work during his tenure.
“After 29 incredible years with the Ames Construction family, serving from project engineer to executive, I am grateful for the experiences, challenges, and growth this journey has provided. I have had the honor of working alongside the Ames family and talented coworkers as builders of some of the best civil projects in the country. My career at Ames has been truly blessed, and I am proud to be part of what Ames is today.”
Jerry’s plan’s include becoming a snowbird, spending time with his family in the northwest U.S., especially Montana, boating, fishing, and traveling. He’s also looking forward to helping his son get an electrical business off the ground.
“As I step into retirement, I look forward to new adventures, more time with family, while cherishing the memories and relationships built over the years,” he said. “Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. I am excited for what the future holds!”
