👋
Rusty Hutchison

Joined Ames: July 1994
Position: Project Superintendent
Current Job Site: Lone Tree Overpass Project, Flagstaff, AZ

Rusty Hutchison was working for a small glass company in 1990 when he took an interest in the heavy construction field. With the help of a family member, he joined a Phoenix, Arizona-area construction company, where he met Tom Drysdale. A few years later, Tom was hired by John Ames, and Rusty soon followed.

“Tom was driving by my job site, saw me working alongside the road in 115-degree heat, and asked me if I want to come run a brand new 777 rock truck with ice cold AC for Ames Construction. Sweating my butt off, I said, ‘Hell yes! When do I start?’ From that day in 1994, the next 30 years have been the ride of my life.”

Rusty says that he enjoys the satisfaction of making the world a safer place and making it easier for the public to get from one place to another with limited obstacles during a construction project. “What gets me up in the morning is the people I get to work with and being a part of their lives for the next 8-10 hours.”

Outside of work, Rusty enjoys being outdoors with his wife, Karen, and their dogs. He recently took up long range shooting, and he also enjoys taking a rock crawler out to the Parker and Bullhead City trails in Arizona.
